Jim Hartnett joined Fareportal as an Advisory Board member in May 2009. Jim is an expert in strategic alliances, sales management, corporate strategy and business development. He has over 24 years management experience in the aviation sector. Most recently, he joined Etihad Airways as their Vice President - Alliance Sales, the Americas based in Chicago. Prior to that, he founded Hartnett & Company, an international aviation consulting firm. In this role, he was an independent business advisor to airlines, sales and marketing service providers, hospitality companies, and private equity funds. He has worked with clients around the world to develop and execute strategy, strategic partnerships and international sales initiatives.
Before Hartnett and Company, Jim worked for United Airlines for over 20 years in a variety of management roles in the US and Europe. His most recent position was as director – Worldwide Alliances, where he was responsible for all aspects of United’s alliances and strategic relationships. In this role, he created, launched and managed international joint ventures and expanded United’s alliance partnerships into China, India and Africa. Under his leadership, United’s global alliance revenue grew by over 150%.
Jim is well versed in the European, Asian, Indian, Middle East and North American aviation markets. Jim holds a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Iowa.
