Terry Jones has over 40 years experience in the travel industry and as founder of Travelocity.com, Chairman of Kayak.com and former CIO at American Airlines SABRE is an online travel and IT expert. Jones, who began his career as a travel agent, had a twenty four year career at American Airlines with management positions in travel distribution and IT, finishing his career as CIO.

 

At American he served as president of the Agency Datasystems division, marketing mini computers to travel agents. Later he was vice president of applications development, with a team of five hundred building software for American and external clients such as the French Railroad. As president of Sabre Computer Services, he led a team of two thousand who ran American and SABRE’s extensive computer operations, networks and desktop systems.

 

While CIO at SABRE he also lead the team that founded Travelocity.com and later took the company public. He served as CEO of Travelocity for six years and left when the company was taken private.Since that time he has served on eight public and private boards, leads a consulting company and is a special venture partner with General Catalyst Partners.

 

He currently is Chairman of Kayak.com and serves on the on the boards of travel companies Reardencommerce Inc, and Smart Destinations Inc.

 

Jones received his BA from Denison University, and was recently awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters from Sierra Nevada College. He holds several patents in the area of travel technology. He is Chairman of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and serves on the information technology council of the Boy Scouts of America.
