Role Overview
Are you a Sr. Systems Engineer looking for a company that is building industry leading hybrid cloud technologies? Fareportal is a hybrid travel agency with a commitment to the very best customer experience through any channel our customers want to use. The Systems Engineer will help Fareportal drive a world class infrastructure supporting an omnichannel, Customer Travel experience through our unique blend of web, mobile, voice, chat, and API economy infrastructure. We are looking for someone to help us take our infrastructure, IaaS, and hybrid cloud capabilities to the next level, with heavy automation of infrastructure components built from best practice components. We will need you to:
Responsibilities:
- Storage Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and manage storage solutions from Dell, HPE, and Hitachi, ensuring alignment with business needs and industry standards.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary technical authority for Dell (e.g., Dell EMC Unity, VNX), HPE and Hitachi (e.g., Hitachi VSP) storage technologies. Additionally, provide expertise in Hyper-V/VMware hypervisor and HPE server technologies.
- Systems Integration: Facilitate the integration of storage solutions with Hyper-V hypervisor and server environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless interoperability and optimal performance.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize storage performance, capacity, and reliability. Implement strategies to enhance performance and efficiency across Dell, HPE, and Hitachi storage environments, considering Hyper-V hypervisor and server configurations.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve complex storage-related issues, including those related to Hyper-V hypervisor and servers. Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and vendor support personnel to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Capacity Planning and Scalability: Conduct capacity planning assessments to forecast storage growth and anticipate future needs. Recommend and implement scalable solutions to accommodate business growth and evolving requirements, considering Hyper-V hypervisor and server workloads.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure storage solutions comply with security standards and regulations. Implement access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality. Apply knowledge of Hyper-V hypervisor and server security best practices.
- Documentation and Training: Maintain up-to-date documentation of storage and systems configurations, procedures, and policies. Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff on storage technologies, Hyper-V hypervisor, and server configurations.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and select storage vendors and products from Dell, HPE, and Hitachi based on business requirements and technical specifications. Manage vendor relationships and coordinate support activities as needed.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or MIS
- Minimum 5 Years experience in designing, implementing, and managing storage solutions from Dell, HPE, and Hitachi in enterprise environments. Additional experience or knowledge in Hyper-V hypervisor and server technologies is required.
- Systems Administration: Proficiency in managing and maintaining server infrastructure, including operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
- Storage Administration: Expertise in configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting storage solutions such as SAN, NAS, and object storage (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi).
- Virtualization Technologies: Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Citrix XenServer
- Networking: Understanding of networking principles and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewall configurations.
- Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools to streamline tasks and workflows.
- Monitoring and Alerting: Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) to monitor system and storage performance and configure alerts.
- Backup and Recovery: Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions, including strategies for data protection, disaster recovery, and backup software.
- Security: Understanding of security best practices, including access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements
- Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex system and storage-related issues
- Project Management: Skills in project planning, execution, and coordination to lead system and storage-related projects from initiation to completion.
- Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in systems and storage engineering.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and expertise.
