CheapOair Announces Top Destinations for Independence Day Holiday Travel

Leading Online Travel Agency’s Data Shows Average Airfare is Down 7 Percent Since Last Year

CheapOair, a leading flight-focused hybrid online travel agency, announced today the top ten domestic destinations its consumers are traveling to for the 4th of July holiday.  Data shows that average prices for the majority of the top destinations are down compared to last year, with the exception of three cities that are showing increases—Los Angeles, CA (up 5%), New York—LaGuardia (up 7%), and Seattle, WA (up 15%).

The largest price decrease seen between 2016 and 2017 for domestic destinations was reflected in bookings for Chicago, IL, showing a 23 percent decrease in airfare costs.  Additionally, CheapOair’s data shows that those looking to pay the lowest price for their trip should consider Ft. Lauderdale, FL, as the average airfare costs $295.  Las Vegas, NV came in as the most popular destination for the holiday, with a 6 percent decrease in airfare, rounding out at $345.

“Independence Day signifies the height of the travel season, as most consumers kick off their summer vacations this weekend. As airfare prices continue to drop, total numbers of passengers booking flights continues to rise. This July 4th we are expecting to see 70 percent more flights booked than last year,” says Tom Spagnola, CheapOair’s Senior Vice President of Supplier Relations.

“Airline prices are only set to increase as we get closer to the July 4th holiday. Consumers should take advantage of the deals available now before they miss out on some great travel opportunities,” Spagnola adds.

CheapOair App Lets Customers Skip International Data with Offline City Maps

Next generation travel company integrates with Ulmon’s CityMaps2Go to provide in-app access to downloadable worldwide city maps

CheapOair, a leading flight-focused, next generation concierge travel service, is now offering customers the ability to download and save maps to their phone during their travels. This new feature will help CheapOair customers minimize reliance on expensive international data plans while traveling abroad.

CityMaps2Go has been integrated into the CheapOAir app to provide users with the convenience of downloading maps of their destinations. When a customer makes a booking, the option to download a map of their booked destination is presented. Once the map is downloaded, it then becomes available for both online or offline use.

As the first online travel agency to successfully integrate downloadable maps into its app, this milestone is especially beneficial to customers without access to wireless or cellular service as GPS is still available even if the phone is offline. Customers can download the map on their devices through the “My Trips” section of the CheapOair app.

“This is a very exciting development for our team in order to drive post-purchase use of the app,” said Daniel Lizio-Katzen, Senior Vice President of Product & Revenue at Fareportal. “Our goal is to create a full-service travel agency experience for our customers while still offering the convenience of using a mobile app.”

CheapOair is continually expanding its products and services to provide customers with a complete travel experience including assistance prior to booking, throughout the booking process, and even once travel has commenced. The CheapOair app is available to download for free on the iTunes Store or Google Play Store.
