CheapOair.com Reveals the Most Popular European Destinations This Summer

CheapOair®, an online travel agency and leading provider of cheap flights, today announced the most popular European destinations for summer travel in 2019. After analyzing trends and booking data, CheapOair revealed that London is the highest booked destination for the fourth year in a row with an average roundtrip airfare of $783, a 10% price decrease from 2018.

CheapOair’s data reveals that the average price to fly to European destinations has decreased by 3% this summer. Due to major carriers continuing to introduce basic economy fares for trans-Atlantic flights, consumers are taking advantage of many affordable travel options to popular European cities, including Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and Madrid.

CheapOair's Top European Destinations For Summer 2019

Through price comparison and booking analysts, CheapOair also found that it is becoming more affordable to travel to Greece. While Athens continues to be a summer hot spot with a bit of a higher cost in airfare, the destination is seeing a 4% price decrease compared to 2018, making it a highly attractive destination this year.

“Flying to Europe is becoming more affordable every year, which means it’s also becoming increasingly popular,” said Tom Spagnola, Senior Vice President of Supplier Relations at CheapOair. “Consumers should take advantage of these low costs to experience European cities they haven’t been to before, but booking early is important as summer is the most popular travel season and costs will only increase from here.”

By consistently monitoring travel trends, CheapOair’s mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations.

CheapOair.com Names Six “Insta-Worthy” Destinations for Summer 2019

Last year, CheapOair.com noticed a trend in travelers picking their destinations based on “Instagramability”. This year, the online travel agency and leading provider of cheap flights sees no sign of this movement slowing down. To help travelers plan their trips, CheapOair has selected its top picks for the most photogenic destinations to visit during the summer 2019 travel season.

Sardinia: From your best friend to your great-aunt, you’ve probably noticed that everyone has already been to the Amalfi Coast. Be the talk of all your followers this summer with a trip to the island of Sardinia, one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. The trendsetting Instagrammer will enjoy spectacular beaches, hidden coves, and of course, the freshest seafood the Mediterranean has to offer. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Sardinia is $1,167*.

Baja California: Skip hectic Napa this summer and head south of the border to Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico for winery tours. With its Mediterranean-like climate, the conditions are perfect for producing big, bold reds that are starting to get a lot of attention. As tourism grows, so does the food scene which makes Baja California the perfect destination for the foodie Instagrammer this summer. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Baja California is $502.

Myanmar: This Southeast Asian country has it all. From limestone mountains and rice paddies to breath-taking beaches and temples. This summer, the fashionista Instagrammer should choose a colorful outfit when visiting the white-washed Hsinbyume Pagoda to really stand out.  Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Myanmar is $1,157*.

Bulgaria: This former Soviet-bloc nation is finding its footing within the European Union and is starting to attract Western travelers. The off-the-beaten-path Instagrammer will appreciate the limited number of tourists and the ability to form a deeper connection with the locals. Plus, the many free walking tours available make it a budget-friendly destination. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Bulgaria is $995*.

Alaska: If you’re an outdoorsy Instagrammer, you’ll surely enjoy the moderate temperatures and myriad of exciting activities Alaska has to offer in the summer. Plus, in June and July you can take advantage of up to 22 hours of daylight to make the most of your visit. Don’t miss out on one of the quintessential Alaskan activities of visiting a glacier. You may even get to see “calving” as the region goes through the summer melt. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Alaska is $570*.

Jordan: Thanks to the fame brought by Indiana Jones, Petra has long been the pinnacle of the adventure Instagrammer’s bucket list. However, if you’re looking to stand apart from the rest, set your sights on Wadi Rum. In addition to the red-rock desert landscape, you’ll feel extra interplanetary with a stay in a desert bubble. Like Petra, Wadi Rum has also been the location for many movie sets. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Jordan is $1,216*.

Pay for Your Flights Over Time on CheapOair.com and OneTravel.com with Affirm

Fareportal, the travel technology company powering CheapOair.com and OneTravel.com, has partnered with the financial technology company, Affirm, to allow customers to seamlessly pay for flights over time. This new feature gives customers greater access to travel by offering them a quick, simple, and transparent way to book travel now and pay over time in-line with their budget.

CheapOair and OneTravel customers can now apply at checkout for the option to pay in installments over a three-, six-, or 12-month period. Customers enter five simple pieces of information to check eligibility and a decision is made in real-time. Upon approval, customers are offered between 10% – 30% APR and can see exactly what they’ll pay on a monthly basis for each of the three term options available. For example, a $300 purchase at 10% APR spread out over three months would cost $101.69 per month.

“Travel purchases can be expensive whether you’re traveling across the country or across the world,” said Sam S. Jain, Founder and CEO at Fareportal. “We strive to be the most affordable travel booking option and we are pleased that our new partnership with Affirm will give our customers a simple payment option to make higher-priced transactions more manageable.”

“While travel is fun and exciting, many consumers want the ability to spread out the cost of a trip over time rather than part ways with the total cost upfront,” said Max Levchin, Founder and CEO at Affirm. “Affirm gives Fareportal’s customers the ability to spread costs out over time without hidden fees or compounding interest and provides travelers with the confidence that they can afford it.”

CheapOair.com Reveals Top Trips Americans Are Taking with 2019 Tax Refunds

Tax refunds are arriving just in time for the spring travel season and CheapOair®, an online travel agency and leading provider of cheap flights, has analyzed trends and booking data to reveal the top destinations that travelers are jet-setting to with their extra cash. This year, travelers from different age groups are planning getaways to big cities, warm weather destinations, European hot spots, and more.

Family Spring Breakers Head to the Tropics, Europe for March Getaways

Across the U.S., students from kindergarten to 12th grade are beginning the countdown to spring break. In states like Texas and Florida, spring break is coming as soon as March 15th while others like New York, will have to wait until the tail end of April for their reprieve. CheapOair®, an online travel agency and leading provider of cheap flights, has analyzed the latest travel trends to determine the top destinations for elementary, middle, and high school families with spring break in March1.

Florida dominates this year’s domestic travel list with five destinations landing in the top 10 – Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and Ft. Myers. Internationally, there are several destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean in the top 10, but there are also a few European cities.

“With the rise of international low-cost carriers, traveling to a number of major cities in Europe has become very affordable compared to past years,” said Tom Spagnola, SVP of Supplier Relations at CheapOair. “In some cases, taking a family trip to England or France in March – the off-season for those destinations – may end up being cheaper than a trip to one of the tropical destinations.”

For March spring breaks, average domestic airfare this year is $387 while international airfare is averaging around $600. The cheapest domestic destination is Los Angeles, CA with an airfare of $278. Internationally, Barcelona is surprisingly the cheapest destination even compared to closer cities in Mexico or the Caribbean.
