Located in the northern Verde Valley region of Arizona, Sedona’s stunning red rock formations beckon visitors in search of relaxation. The area is known as a haven for artists, yogis, nature lovers, and spa-goers. All of this natural beauty, world-class spas, and Sedona’s decidedly chill vibe creates the ideal setting for a honeymoon. Outdoorsy newlyweds will be blown away by the hiking opportunities in this stunning part of the country.

Charleston, South Carolina

History-loving couples are sure to be taken by Charleston’s centuries-old mansions, cobblestone walk streets, and horse-drawn carriages. Steal a kiss under the Spanish moss-laden trees as you stroll to one of the city’s award-winning restaurants or world-class art galleries. With lots of B&Bs and affordable hotels, Charleston provides a romantic setting for a low price tag.

Yosemite National Park, California

For nature-loving spouses, there’s nothing like an iconic national park to inspire romance. Get ready to be awed by majestic waterfalls, towering Sequoias, and stunning rock formations. Experience breathtaking views while hiking Yosemite’s well-worn paths. With a small entry fee and budget-friendly accommodations such as campgrounds and motels in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park makes for an affordable, memorable honeymoon destination.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Check into one of Cape Cod’s cozy, affordable B&Bs and get ready for a refreshing coastal honeymoon experience. Eat your fill at the Cape’s colorful clam shacks, take in the iconic local cottages, stroll the pristine beaches, go for a ride on a scenic bike trail, or rent a kayak and hit the water for an afternoon. National Selfie Day: The Non-Millennial’s Guide to Taking Perfect Travel Selfies

If you’re not a millennial, the art of the selfie might seem a little intimidating. This pressure is only intensified for travel selfies, when you want to look great and also show off all the activities you’re doing on your getaway. OneTravel, a leading online travel agency, has analyzed the many travel selfies to offer travelers the best tips for getting that perfect shot.

Find the Right Angle

If you’re tilting the phone at a weird angle to put your best face forward, here’s the straight scoop: a high angle doesn’t improve your photos. In fact, angling the phone too much can leave you looking distorted. Instead of holding the camera at an awkward angle, try facing it head-on. Not only will you look proportionate, but viewers will be able to appreciate the scenery in the background.

Consider Your Lighting –

This should go without saying, but lighting can make or break your travel selfie. Nobody is going to be able to appreciate that gorgeous view if the lighting is bad. Natural lighting is absolutely the best, so use it as often as you are able. Be careful about shadows, which can leave you looking worn out and tired. And don’t forget, when it gets dark the flash can be your absolute best friend.

Seek Out Unusual Locations –

If you really want your travel selfies to spark some interest and keep your audience intrigued, skip the usual tourist spots. Sure, the Eiffel Tower is impressive, but there are so many other stunning options to explore. Look for surprising locales to improve your photos and keep them from the usual boring looks. Not only will viewers be intrigued, your photos will end up looking unique and exciting, instead of like a stock photo.

Sunglasses or No Sunglasses

Unless you have legitimately cool-looking sunglasses, skip them for your selfie. They distract from the surroundings and make you look more like a tourist than you’d ever want to admit. Sunglasses can also reflect oddly, ruining the careful composition of your beautiful photo. All that aside, there are times when sunglasses are acceptable: when you’re at the beach or in a ridiculously sunny spot.

Mind the Sun

If you’re taking an outdoor selfie, the sun can simultaneously be your greatest friend and worst enemy. The trick to taming the sun and making sure it helps instead of hinders your photographic dreams is to keep it behind you. Try to frame the photo so your head is blocking the sun. This way you get all the light with none of the harshness. You and your surroundings will look radiant.

Figure Out Your Selfie Smile

Some of us feel awkward cracking a grin on camera. It’s time to nip that fear in the bud and beam in your next photo. Remember, you’re on vacation: you should look like you’re having fun. If a natural smile just isn’t in the cards, don’t fret. You can go for a milder look with the closed-mouth smile, being sure to smile with your eyes. And if you really want to nail that on-camera grin, practice in front of a mirror. Then the next time the selfie mood strikes you, you’ll be all set to nail that perfect smile.

Beware of the Solo Selfie

While traditionally the self is taken by, well, yourself, travel selfies are a bit different. If you’re surfing for the first time, or perched on the edge of a high cliff, you don’t want to be battling with a camera. Instead, ask someone to snap the camera for you. You want to get the shot, but your safety is far more important. Don’t do something risky in the hopes of achieving that perfect selfie. It’s not worth it; and odds are the selfie your helper takes will capture the fun and excitement of your trip.

Get Creative

You’re on vacation, visiting incredible locations, eating sensational food, and exploring the world. Instead of the standard selfies, try to get creative on your vacation. Take pictures where you try new activities, eat strange new things, or meet cool new people. Your vacation selfies are a chance to show a whole new world — and a completely different side of yourself. Have fun with them, and see where your imagination takes you.

CheapOair Data Indicates Air Travel to Russia Up Over 300% in June and July

CheapOair.com, a leading flight-focused hybrid travel agency, today announced that its summer air travel data reveals that global bookings to select Russian airports[1] are up 331% from mid-June through mid-July.

This year, Americans, Spaniards, and Canadians make up 30% of CheapOair passengers going to Russia during June and July. However, Peru leads for the highest increase in tickets to Russia sold compared to travel during the same period in 2017.

Most American travelers are departing from major metropolises including New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. Average airfare from U.S. destinations is over $1,326 which is 14% higher than the same period in 2017.

Travel to Russia this summer will be significantly easier as entry and exit of foreign citizens arriving in Russia as spectators for sports events does not require Russian visas. However, foreign visitors must have a Personalized Card of the Spectator, or “Fan ID”. Fan ID holders are permitted to stay in Russia from June 4 to July 25, 2018.

“Our booking data is showing that travel to Russia this summer is trending upwards not just for the U.S., but for many countries around the world,” said Sam S. Jain Founder and CEO at CheapOair. “Despite the high costs, dedicated sports fans are flocking to ten of the [Russian] Federation’s key gateways during the months of June and July.”

CheapOair reminds passengers traveling to Russia this summer to familiarize themselves with local laws and customs and to be vigilant of their behavior. The online travel agency also recommends enrolling in the U.S. State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to stay up-to-date on important safety and security messages.

By consistently monitoring travel trends, CheapOair’s mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations. With a portfolio of products, including rate and schedule information from 450 global airlines, CheapOair is a great way to book the travel that’s right for you.

OneTravel Shares Tips on How to Prepare for An International Trip

Whether you’re taking your first international trip or you just need a refresher on how to prepare, OneTravel.com is sharing some tips to make sure travelers have fun, memorable, and safe global getaways this summer.

Purchase travel insurance: It’s no secret that international trips are expensive. Purchasing insurance may ensure you’re able to recuperate the cost of your trip in case something goes unexpectedly wrong. Though most travel insurance policies don’t cover when a passenger arbitrarily cancels a trip, they do cover occurrences like sickness, injury, natural disaster, or terrorist incident. All travel insurance policies are different, so make sure you read what exactly is covered under your policy.

Let your bank know you’re traveling: Identity security is a top priority these days, especially for financial institutions, so it’s not unusual for a bank to freeze or cancel your credit or debit card if it sees unusual activity. To avoid being locked out of your accounts, give your bank a call before you leave to let them know when you’ll be out of the country and what countries you’ll be visiting.

Print hotel, car, or activity confirmations: Even if you are traveling with an international phone plan, it’s a good idea to have your email confirmations printed out just in case. Printing them before you leave will also force you to review your reservations to make sure all of the booking information is correct.

Make copies of important documents: If you fall victim to theft, it is critical to have photocopies of your travel documents and other important items in your wallet. According to the U.S. Department of State, having a copy of your passport helps with getting a replacement for your return trip. Photocopies of other items in your wallet will provide back-up identification and will remind you of any credit cards you need to cancel.

Study up on your destination: Whether you think so or not, you will likely stick out as a foreigner when you are traveling abroad. Before you leave, look at a map and try to get an idea of the layout of your destination city. It’s also recommended to learn some of the basic customs and laws to make sure you are acting appropriately. To go the extra mile, learning key phrases in the local language is always appreciated by locals.

CheapOair Announces Top Destinations for Fourth of July Travel

CheapOair.com, a leading flight-focused hybrid travel agency, today announced its top ten domestic and international destinations for 2018’s Fourth of July holiday.

The Fourth of July is all about honoring America, so it is fitting that this year, domestic travel is dominating. Of the top 25 most booked cities over the holiday week, 19 are within the United States. Additionally, some of the most popular destinations also happen to host the nation’s most iconic Fourth of July celebrations.

Orlando tops this year’s list of most-booked destinations followed by Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The data also revealed that Dallas is the most affordable of the top ten with an average roundtrip price of $303. For the ultimate Fourth of July experience, CheapOair recommends joining in the fun at one of Orlando’s amusement parks for their annual Independence Day celebrations or visiting Seattle, San Francisco, or Boston for outdoor concerts and renowned fireworks displays.

For those who are opting to spend the week outside the U.S., London, England is the most-booked international destination for the first week of July, followed by Paris, France and Mexico City, Mexico. International prices are spiking as demand for summer holidays increase.

“As we move into the peak travel season, travelers should expect to see prices at the highest levels so far this year,” said Sam S. Jain, Founder and CEO at CheapOair. “Internationally, prices to Bangkok, Barcelona, and London are up between 35%-42%[1] while prices to Rome are up over 57% [3] since the Memorial Day booking period in March and April. For domestic travel, prices to San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and Seattle are all up over 17% [3] since the Memorial Day booking period.”

CheapOair.com Names 2018’s Most “Insta-Worthy” Destinations to Boost Your Social Media Profile

In the age of social media, travelers are beginning to choose their vacation destinations based on how well they believe their photos will perform on their social accounts.

To help travelers find the next destination that will get them the most “likes” and help to establish them as travel trendsetters, CheapOair.com has selected its picks for the most photogenic destinations you’ve likely never considered traveling to.

Instead of Iceland, try Faroe Islands: You’ve probably noticed that Iceland has skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade, but the more photos of the Blue Lagoon that appear in your social feed, the more the novelty wears off. Instead, experience one of Europe’s best kept secrets: the Faroe Islands. Spectacular secluded landscapes, millennia-old history, and a unique North Atlantic cuisine are just a few reasons this off-the-radar spot should be next on your list. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to the Faroe Islands is $1,193*.

Instead of Singapore, try Hainan: China’s Hainan Island is being called the “Hawaii of the East” and is even starting to garner comparisons to Dubai for its newfound luxury vibe. To promote tourism, the Chinese government recently launched a program granting 30-day visa-free access to the island for tourists from 59 countries including the United States. While there, check out the 350 ft. Buddhist statue on the shores of the South China Sea. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Hainan is $1,343*.

Instead of Prague, try Wroclaw: Poland isn’t one of those countries you hear about tourists flocking to, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be. Wroclaw is a beautiful city with rich history dating back as early as the 6th century. Don’t miss the city’s main square surrounded by colorful tenement buildings. The square was destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt to honor Wroclaw’s medieval past.  Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Wroclaw is $1,086*.

Instead of Costa Rica, try the Azores: Black sand beaches, lush greenery, and volcanic peaks make the Azores the perfect backdrop for your next subtropical getaway. Despite being an easy flight from the east coast – under 6 hours from New York, Boston, and Providence – the Azores are still widely undiscovered.  Outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and surfing are popular activities for both locals and visitors. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to the Azores is $770*.

Instead of Croatia, try Montenegro: Just across the border from Croatia, Kotor is a medieval town with slightly less exposure than Dubrovnik. The charming town is nestled in a fjord-like bay and is perfect for spending a day getting lost. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Montenegro is $1,359.

Instead of Dubai, try Marrakech: From the delicately painted tiles, to the colorful goods in the souks, to the winding alleys of the old town, Marrakech is a city just waiting to be photographed. Simply wandering around is your best bet for finding a shot that will wow your followers. Marrakech is also a great starting point for visiting the remote, snow-capped Atlas Mountain range. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Marrakech is $1,206*.

Fareportal’s OTA Brands Named Among Top Travel Agencies

Leading online travel agency recognized as a top performer by Philippine Airlines

Fareportal, a global travel technology company powering seven travel brands including CheapOair.com and OneTravel.com, was recently awarded a 2018 PAL Award by Philippine Airlines. This annual award recognizes the travel agencies delivering the highest sales revenue to the airline over the past year.

For three consecutive years, Fareportal has made it on to the elite list of PAL Award recipients under the global OTA category. Philippine Airlines representatives Josh Vasquez and Charisse Rodriguez presented this year’s award to Fareportal’s Senior Vice President of Supplier Relations, Tom Spagnola, at Fareportal’s Headquarters in New York City.

“It is an honor to receive our third consecutive PAL Award from Philippine Airlines,” said Spagnola. “This award is representative of the continuous collaboration between the PAL and Fareportal teams over the years and we are grateful to Philippine Airlines for their continued partnership.”

Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier of the Philippines and operates non-stop flights to Manila from three North American gateways including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver. Philippine Airline is a world class carrier and was recently rated a 4-star Airline by Skytrax.

“Fareportal has been one of Philippine Airlines’ strongest global partners for the past several years,” said Josh Vasquez, the New York Area Manager for Philippine Airlines. “This award is our way of expressing gratitude to the whole Fareportal team for their unwavering support to PAL, and at the same time, a recognition of the two companies sharing the same quality of “Buong-Pusong Alaga” or whole-hearted service we both provide our customers.”

“With over 450 airline partnerships worldwide, it is inspiring to see the positive impact we have on our partners’ businesses,” said Sam S. Jain, CEO and Founder at Fareportal. “We are excited to continue building upon this already strong relationship with Philippine Airlines to achieve even greater success in the future.”
