CheapOair Announces Top Destinations for Fourth of July Travel

CheapOair.com, a leading flight-focused hybrid travel agency, today announced its top ten domestic and international destinations for 2018’s Fourth of July holiday.

The Fourth of July is all about honoring America, so it is fitting that this year, domestic travel is dominating. Of the top 25 most booked cities over the holiday week, 19 are within the United States. Additionally, some of the most popular destinations also happen to host the nation’s most iconic Fourth of July celebrations.

Orlando tops this year’s list of most-booked destinations followed by Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The data also revealed that Dallas is the most affordable of the top ten with an average roundtrip price of $303. For the ultimate Fourth of July experience, CheapOair recommends joining in the fun at one of Orlando’s amusement parks for their annual Independence Day celebrations or visiting Seattle, San Francisco, or Boston for outdoor concerts and renowned fireworks displays.

For those who are opting to spend the week outside the U.S., London, England is the most-booked international destination for the first week of July, followed by Paris, France and Mexico City, Mexico. International prices are spiking as demand for summer holidays increase.

“As we move into the peak travel season, travelers should expect to see prices at the highest levels so far this year,” said Sam S. Jain, Founder and CEO at CheapOair. “Internationally, prices to Bangkok, Barcelona, and London are up between 35%-42%[1] while prices to Rome are up over 57% [3] since the Memorial Day booking period in March and April. For domestic travel, prices to San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and Seattle are all up over 17% [3] since the Memorial Day booking period.”

By consistently monitoring travel trends, CheapOair’s mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations. With a portfolio of products, including rate and schedule information from 450 global airlines, CheapOair is a great way to book the travel that’s right for you.

CheapOair.com Names 2018’s Most “Insta-Worthy” Destinations to Boost Your Social Media Profile

In the age of social media, travelers are beginning to choose their vacation destinations based on how well they believe their photos will perform on their social accounts.

To help travelers find the next destination that will get them the most “likes” and help to establish them as travel trendsetters, CheapOair.com has selected its picks for the most photogenic destinations you’ve likely never considered traveling to.

Instead of Iceland, try Faroe Islands: You’ve probably noticed that Iceland has skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade, but the more photos of the Blue Lagoon that appear in your social feed, the more the novelty wears off. Instead, experience one of Europe’s best kept secrets: the Faroe Islands. Spectacular secluded landscapes, millennia-old history, and a unique North Atlantic cuisine are just a few reasons this off-the-radar spot should be next on your list. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to the Faroe Islands is $1,193*.

Instead of Singapore, try Hainan: China’s Hainan Island is being called the “Hawaii of the East” and is even starting to garner comparisons to Dubai for its newfound luxury vibe. To promote tourism, the Chinese government recently launched a program granting 30-day visa-free access to the island for tourists from 59 countries including the United States. While there, check out the 350 ft. Buddhist statue on the shores of the South China Sea. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Hainan is $1,343*.

Instead of Prague, try Wroclaw: Poland isn’t one of those countries you hear about tourists flocking to, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be. Wroclaw is a beautiful city with rich history dating back as early as the 6th century. Don’t miss the city’s main square surrounded by colorful tenement buildings. The square was destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt to honor Wroclaw’s medieval past.  Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Wroclaw is $1,086*.

Instead of Costa Rica, try the Azores: Black sand beaches, lush greenery, and volcanic peaks make the Azores the perfect backdrop for your next subtropical getaway. Despite being an easy flight from the east coast – under 6 hours from New York, Boston, and Providence – the Azores are still widely undiscovered.  Outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and surfing are popular activities for both locals and visitors. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to the Azores is $770*.

Instead of Croatia, try Montenegro: Just across the border from Croatia, Kotor is a medieval town with slightly less exposure than Dubrovnik. The charming town is nestled in a fjord-like bay and is perfect for spending a day getting lost. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Montenegro is $1,359.

Instead of Dubai, try Marrakech: From the delicately painted tiles, to the colorful goods in the souks, to the winding alleys of the old town, Marrakech is a city just waiting to be photographed. Simply wandering around is your best bet for finding a shot that will wow your followers. Marrakech is also a great starting point for visiting the remote, snow-capped Atlas Mountain range. Average airfare for summer travel from the US to Marrakech is $1,206*.

By consistently monitoring travel trends, CheapOair’s mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations. East Coast vs. West Coast: Where Americans Are Traveling in 2018

The East Coast[1] versus West Coast[2] mentalities have long been juxtaposed, and today CheapOair.com released the findings of a comparison on the differing preferences of Eastern versus Western U.S. travelers in the beginning of 2018.

CheapOair’s data revealed that when West Coasters travel domestically, they prefer to visit other West Coast destinations including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Honolulu. Meanwhile, the domestic travel preferences of those from the Eastern U.S. is more widespread, and they are especially keen on travel to Florida, with Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and Miami among their top 5 domestic destinations.

CheapOair’s data found that airfare prices from West Coast gateways can be up to 16% higher than fares from the East Coast, especially when traveling within the US, to Canada, and to Europe. People who live on the West Coast seem to take advantage of the cheaper options by choosing to travel to Mexico and Asia more so than to other international regions.

The data also shows that East Coasters primarily travel to Mexico and the Caribbean in the early part of the year, but then in May their bookings to Europe spike as the summer peak season approaches.

By consistently monitoring travel trends, CheapOair’s mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations. With a portfolio of products, including rate and schedule information from more than 450 global airlines, CheapOair is a great way to book the travel that’s right for you.

CheapOair.com Shares Top Hacks for Finding Cheap Airfare

With a name like CheapOair.com, it’s safe to say the online travel agency knows a thing or two about finding great deals on airfare. Just in time for peak travel season, CheapOair is sharing its top hacks for how consumers can save on travel this summer.

Be flexible with your travel dates

While there are many different theories about what days of the week have the cheapest fares, CheapOair has found that flexibility is the most important factor to finding the best prices. By giving yourself a window of a few days for your departure or return flight (or even both), you may be able to save quite a bit of money, as fares can vary day by day. CheapOair helps consumers find the most affordable travel dates by automatically finding the lowest airfare within a certain window of dates that the customer is searching for. Check out the site’s Flexible Dates tab for the best options.

Look for two one-way tickets instead of one round-trip ticket

Booking two one-way flights rather than booking one round-trip ticket can occasionally result in a cheaper airfare. This tactic will require a more dedicated search and some math to find a pair of flights that will in fact save you money. When booking one-way tickets, don’t forget to factor in additional costs for amenities like baggage, seat selection, or meals. Some airlines include these fees in the fare while others may charge separately for them. CheapOair’s proprietary algorithms assist with finding one-way segments by pairing flights from airlines that you wouldn’t typically see together.

 Consider a longer layover

When you first conduct a flight search you may notice that tickets with the absolute lowest prices tend to be the ones with longer layovers. Many travelers today treat a layover as part of the trip and use it as an opportunity to explore a new place. Some airlines such as Icelandic Air, Aer Lingus, and Emirates encourage passengers to “stopover” and sometimes even offer special incentives to passengers such as free tours, hotels, or meals for layovers longer than [a few hours].

Pay attention to email promotions and subscribe to Fare Alerts

Subscribing to email and app alerts from airlines and online travel agencies like CheapOair.com can lead to great deals. If you are looking for a specific route, you can set a fare alert that will send you an email or push notification when the price for that route goes down. Monitoring your email for travel deals can be painful, especially when email inboxes are constantly bombarded with promotions from every place you’ve ever shopped. However, travel promotions are worth looking at, especially if you are in the market for a ticket. Airlines are known for having flash sales that will put fares on sale for a very short period. If you aren’t alerted of the sale, you may not even know it ever happened.

CheapOair Announces Top Destinations for Memorial Day 2018

CheapOair®, a leading flight-focused hybrid travel agency, today announced its top ten domestic and international destinations for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.

Orlando tops this year’s list of most-booked domestic Memorial Day weekend destinations followed by Las Vegas and New York City. Data also revealed that Fort Lauderdale is the most affordable of the top booked destinations this year, with an average roundtrip price of $275 — an 11% decrease in price from last year. Overall, domestic airfares are down an average of 5% compared to the same period in 2017.

Memorial Day 2018 Top Domestic Destinations

London, England is the most-booked international destination for the long Memorial Day weekend, followed by Cancun, Mexico and Rome, Italy. Overall, travel to international destinations has seen an average of a 2% increase, however some destinations, such as those in Asia, are seeing as much as a 19% decrease over last year.

“Despite the unusually low fares we’ve seen during the early part of 2018, travelers should expect prices for Memorial Day to be on par with previous years,” said Tom Spagnola, Senior Vice President Supplier Relations at CheapOair. “Average airfares, international and domestic combined, are only expected to be about 2% lower compared to 2017. The sooner you can book your flights, the more likely it is that you’ll find a decent price.”

Memorial Day 2018 Top International Destinations

Data also shows that domestic vacations, along with trips within North America and to the Caribbean are shorter in length, compared to long haul destinations, such as Europe and Asia.

Memorial Day 2018 Average Trip Length

“The added capacity in the market has made this a great year for finding amazing deals on airfare,” said Sam S. Jain, Founder and CEO at CheapOair. “However, due to the heavy demand for travel over the long weekend, consumers should try to book their flights as early as possible. Basic economy fares have a limited number of seats, so if you are looking for those extremely low prices, flexibility around when you book and when you travel will be essential.”
